Today we spent time researching, flying in Andorania (or not flying at all, thankyouverymuch fate cards!!), and investigating aviation pioneers! Here's a rough list from Wikipedia, although our class' research range has been scaled back: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aviation_pioneers We are learning how to cite our sources as well. http://oslis.org/
We also discussed overcoming failure and continued pursuit in the face of obstacles. Here's the video we watched: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6hz_s2XIAU
Here is the activity packet we looked at for Charles Lindburgh accounting his failures! http://www.capmembers.com/media/cms/Charles_Lindbergh_Activity__57B5DF94412DE.pdf

Best fate card we have pulled: your co-pilot is vomiting. If your navigator can shoot a coin into the waste basket from 15 feet away, he will be miraculously cured. If not, the team is grounded for the day.
We were able to apply some real world long division skills to set the stage for the coin toss. Unfortunately, the navigator missed the shot and the team was grounded, further adding to their pitiful story as the Pitiful Popsicles!
During phase three of our open market and paper airplane investigation, I self-sacrificed for the accuracy target. Luckily, no planes hit the target. ;)
The TAG department received a school shout out! Woohoo!
