Students have been hard at work to transform their research into products with a variety of presentation styles, including websites, Animoto trailers, and Photo Story 3. Please see our student website page at http://mbestag.weebly.com/student-websites.html to visit student's creations to learn about Georgia's history! Our fourth and fifth graders are completely their flight investigations for our upcoming flight contests. The cafeteria was a great testing ground until one of our planes was sacrificed to the lighting fixture! Our research portfolios are growing to with important poetry, news articles, and timelines using time toast.com - students have the opportunity to practice their writer's craft in the TAG room too! Students had the privilege to learn from Kevin MIddlebrooks, an environmental scientist with CH2ML. Students were able to learn about Georgia's resources from someone who works daily to protect them. Kevin helped differentiate between preservation and conservation, and helped the kids really understand why what we do is important! Our first graders dissected owl pellets this week to research the question how an animal's habitat affects its diet. Students a were able to investigate animals' remains in the regurgitated pellets. Students lived analyzing the remains and using various bone charts to determine what animal that owl had eaten. Students used various tools in their dissections to preserve the bones. |
